How to choose a wedding party date
Wedding-adjacent events have a small group of people who absolutely must be there and a larger group who would like to be. Scheduling means protecting the first group without ignoring the second.
Poll the essential people first
Run a short poll with the couple, immediate family and the wedding party. Their availability defines the candidate dates; everyone else chooses from what survives.
Work around the wedding calendar
Avoid the month before the wedding, the weekend of any other wedding in the same circle, and major holidays unless the family already gathers then. What remains is usually a short list.
Then open it to the wider group
Share a second poll with the shortlisted dates to the full guest list. You are now asking a simple question with three or four answers, which is the kind of poll people actually complete.
Announce with the numbers
Publish the chosen date with the availability behind it. In a group with strong feelings about dates, showing the arithmetic saves a lot of conversation.
